Wish You Were Here
The new Bergdorf Goodman Holiday windows feature
travel-inspired motifs and each of the five main windows
feature a different mode of transportation
from hot air balloons, bicycles, ships to space travel.
The one below is my favorite!

The Balenciaga Exhibition At The Spanish Institute
At the Spanish Institute at 648 Park Avenue through February 19th, 2011
I heard Hamish Bowles give a talk at FIT last night. The exhibit is
curated with Balenciaga's chief inspirations in mind ranging
from Spanish court dress, artist friends such as Miro as well as bull-fighting,
and flamenco dance. Balenciaga's mother was a seamstress in the
town of Guetaria and from there Balenciaga learned English tailoring,
became the head of a fashion house in San Sebastian and then moved to Paris.
Hamish Bowles also talked about the church vestments
(displayed in the church of Guetaria) playing a role in the designer's creations,
from the cassock to the cape which could also be worn as an over skirt.
Balenciaga was a master and his incredible sculptural pieces
are timeless and still look very modern.
The exhibit is an extraordinary collection of pieces from the
Balenciaga archives in Paris, Hamish Bowles' personal collection, the FIT
collection and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Back in NYC
After traveling to Germany, Ireland and stopping off in London I am newly
inspired! So happy to have had the chance to visit Dover Street Market.
Traveling in November was challenging because I was trying to pack light and
have the appropriate shoes and boots, so I dressed in lots of layers. It's fun to
see all the Christmas decorations in each city. One of my favorite purchases
was a fur-trimmed sweater at the Cork Holiday Market. There's such a
variety of designers and so as the weather keeps getting colder here I'll have
lots of new things to think about...here's a look at my new mood board.

Lolita Tea Party
Gashicon describing the Hangry & Angry designs
lots of Lolitas attended, I've never seen so many
Lolitas all in one place. I wore my gold shoes
with bows but that's as far as I go : )
After a talk explaining the Hangry & Angry characters
the creator, Gashicon explained her approach to designing,
which is based on used clothing
and repurposing thrift store finds.
Look books were for sale and this one by Gramm
featured gorgeous illlustrations
and also told a story.
The party ended with tea and pastries!

Makeup Forever
Makeup Forever my favorite make-up in the world!
hosted a party at Sephora last night and featured a
really cool fashion show by Peter Prince.
The boots were Doc Martens and I loved the T-shirts!
Makeup Forever is by far the best foundation ever and
the lipsticks are great too. Their color wheel which matches
hair color to makeup colors helps when trying to
make those important decisions.

I met Tim Gunn this past Saturday at the tents.
In response to the story about Anna Wintour I
suggested carrying flats along-
that way noone has to carry me downstairs : )
