American Beauty

American Beauty: Aesthetics and Innovation in Fashion
Special Exhibitions Gallery
November 6, 2009 - April 10, 2010

American Beauty: Aesthetics and Innovation in Fashion is the first exhibition to explore how the "philosophy of beauty" is allied to the craft of dressmaking. Each of the 90 looks on display was chosen to exemplify the relationship between technical ingenuity and artistic excellence. Curator Patricia Mears has focused on approximately 25 American fashion designers, ranging from the obscure, such as Jessie Franklin Turner, whose work dates from the late 1910s, to rising stars of the present day, such as the Mulleavy sisters of Rodarte. Other designers featured include Adrian, Bonnie Cashin, Maria Cornejo, James Galanos, Halston, Elizabeth Hawes, Charles James, Charles Kleibacker, Claire McCardell, Norman Norell, Rick Owens, Ralph Rucci, Isabel Toledo, Pauline Trigère, Valentina, Yeohlee, and Jean Yu.

Fashion Week Spring 2010 -Douglas Hannant

The Douglas Hannant collection was displayed
at the Terrace Room at The Plaza.
The mannequins looked like Grecian goddesses.
I was the stylist on the recent photo shoot for The Plaza
and it was great to see the designer's latest work.
Makes me wish for spring!

Fashion Week Spring 2010-Chado Ralph Rucci

This show was incredibly elegant and chic.
The clothes were gorgeous and the presentation was stunning.

I loved how at the end all the models stood and turned together,
giving the audience an extra moment to admire the clothes.

On the way home waiting for the F train,
I asked one of the models if I could take her picture-

I love the shiny chignon!
